My 10 Best Dog Costumes

As Halloween(er) approaches, I thought I’d share – what are in my mind – my 10 best costumes. Of course this is far from all of them, and I’m not even including my characters and outfits here, such as that of Chef Crusoe, Dr. Crusoe, etc. The below includes only those I consider to fall into the “costume” category.

So, check them out and then let me know which one’s your favorite in the comments!

10. Sexy Vampire Dog Costume

Good looking vampires that make all the girls scream (with delight) when they walk into a room seem to be quite the rage following movies such as Twilight and the like. However, I found it unsettling that there was this whole mass market group of chicks with a fancy for vampires out there that I couldn’t cater to…

So, that’s changed.

Handsome Vampire Dog Costume

Here I am as a handsome vampire – perfectly groomed, chiseled physique draped in a custom-stitched Armani cape and collar, and immortal.

I don’t think there’s a woman in the world who wouldn’t fall into eternal love with me now.

9. WienerWolf

Subsequently to the above, I also learned that there’s a certain sub-market of women who prefer wolf-like hunks over the vampire type. I’m not one to let a niche go untapped, so along came the big bad WienerWolf.

Now I know what you’re thinking. They say you can’t be “everything to everyone”, but if you ask me, the people who said that have obviously never seen Crusoe before.

However, part of my motivation for WienerWolf was also to address the local squirrel problem. Lately, they just haven’t been taking me seriously enough for some reason, so I’ve had to step things up a notch.

I haven’t seen a squirrel since.

8. Dachshund Minions!

Probably my most popular costume is the minions outfit that Dad made for us!

And of course, the video!

And yes, Dad recently posted a DIY tutorial on how to make it, just in time for Halloween.

7. Ski Bum

Here I am as a ski bum, just waiting on that next big dump of powder.

This is one of my favorites, since after all, it made the cover of my 2015 calendar.

Plus skiing is pretty fun if you ask me!

6. The Doxie Brigade (Firefighters)

Here’s my brother Oakley (right) and I (left) as the wiener dog firefighters.

The Doxie Brigade saw its rise to fame with the below video…

And I hear there’s a t-shirt in the making… So stay tuned for that ; )

5. Dog Airplane Costume

Here’s me in my recent seaplane costume, based off of Dusty from the Disney movie Planes!

It’s one thing to wear a costume – it’s another thing to sport a costume, and in fact, is the difference between a good and a great costume.

Which is why I made sure to get in plenty of flight practice before showing this one off.

4. Duck Dynasty

Last year, Mum, Dad, and I dressed up as Si, Phil, and a duck decoy (respectively) for Halloween.

The best part was that Mum and Dad had an interview on the news that night, and Dad didn’t have time to change out of his costume – so afterwards, everyone thought he actually looked like that.

3. Wired-Hair Disguise

You may remember from this previous post when I attempted to overcome my prejudices of wired-hair dachshunds, I went undercover as a wired hair myself to meet with one of their kind and find out once and for all if they’re trustworthy!

And for the record… I still wouldn’t trust one to be alone in my house.

2. BATDOG

OK – I know, I know, I’m a bit of a hypocrite since I always say that “BATDOG is not a costume – it’s a custom-engineered, flame-retardant, and bullet-proof outfit“.

However, I thought it would be a shame not to include it here, since so many dogs out there do like to dress up as me (BATDOG) for Halloween.

But wait – let’s not forget BATDOG’s partner in crime-fighting – Robin! AKA, my brother Oakley!

We make a great crime-fighting duo, as you can see here.

1. Two Monkeys Carrying a Box of Bananas

If you asked me what was my favorite costume (again, not talking characters or outfits), I would have to say it’s my “two monkeys carrying a box of bananas” costume.

But hey, let’s see this one in action!

Bonus – #SHARKWIENER

I can’t forget #SHARKWIENER!

Doggie Shark Swim Vest

In fact, #SHARKWIENER is a sight never to be forgotten…

And there we have it! This is far from everything though, as let’s not forget Buzz and Woody, my fishing outfit, Long Body Crusoe (the pirate), Captain Admiral Crusoe, and more!

So, which one’s your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
