Florida Trip, April 2010 - Part 1

If you read my last post then you would know that my mum is taking me to Florida for my birthday this October 28. I’m very excited, so excited in fact that I’ve decided to do a whole, 2-part series on my previous trip to Florida, which was in April. I’m planning to do all the same great activities and more. Basking in the sun, admiring the babes at the doggy beach, fishing in the gulf, swimming in the Rainbow River, and dining with gators are just some of the things I can look forward to.

The above picture is looking down Florida’s Rainbow River. It’s one of the top 10 clearest rivers in the world. Reason being is that it is fed by a bunch of underground springs, releasing pure, clear, fresh water. It’s a great place to see Manatees. I saw one last year, but didn’t get a chance to swim with it. This year I hope to be able to swim with one, and also to get a great picture of it to show everyone! Below is me swimming in the river.

To improve my swim stroke, my mum and dad took some underwater shots of me swimming with my little paddles at work. They told me that I actually don’t kick my back feet, I just steer with them! My two front paws do all the work. I never realized that. I asked them if this was good technique, and they said probably.

And the below is how I dry off in the sun. Oh, how I love the sun…

When in Florida, I also like to go on long, slow, casual walks around the neighborhood. You know, appreciate the suburb lifestyle. Sometimes it’s nice to have a change of scenery from my usual exploits in the depths of the wild. As per one of our neighborhood outings, my dad decided to put me in the basket on the front of his bike. We went really fast, and I kept telling him to go faster and faster, but he told me I was crazy. I think I need to skydive one day. Anyway, before we left to go for our ride, of course my mum comes trotting along and insists that I put on my harness, which was attached to the basket so I couldn’t jump out. She treats me like such a baby… argh…

Good thing she didn’t see us going fast.

Florida is great. I can’t enough of the sun, heat, and sizzle. I guess it’s my hotdog instinct. Stay tuned for Part 2 of my Florida Trip – April 2010! In Part 2, I’ll be doing one of my absolute, favorite activities; fishing!
